Gaius Marius

Gaius Marius

The first among them was Gaius Marius. He was popularly known as the Great Man of the Army. He systematically organized the army into an efficient warfighting machine such that nothing could withstand and surpass the legions of Rome.

With his newly organized legions, Rome stood victorious infamous battles of Aquae Sextiae and Campi Raudii, against the barbarians from the north. He was known for his ground-breaking idea of granting land to the veteran army soldiers in an exchange of their valuable service to the ancient Rome army.

Julius Caesar was a General, a Statesman and a Politician of Famous Roman People. He was undoubtedly the most famous man of primitive Rome. He invaded Gaul under an excellent campaign which is used in studies to train Generals even today. This invasion led to the expansion of the Roman Empire and opened new avenues in the administrative and developmental spheres as well.

He also led expeditions into Germany and Britain. Gradually Caesar took power over ancient Rome as a dictator. This led to conspiracies and plotting against him by his political enemies. During his sojourn in Egypt, he fell in love with the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. Julius Caesar also reformed the calendar. The modern-day calendar is an adaption of his seminal contribution. The month July is named in his honor.

Augustus

Augustus was the first Emperor of Rome. His real name was Octavian but he was conferred with the name ‘Augustus’ by the ancient Rome Senate for his great and extraordinary achievements. He, together with Mark Antony, avenged the death of Caesar and later together with Cleopatra defeated Mark Antony.

He drafted a new constitution for the ancient Roman Empire coupled with the efforts of the Roman Senate. He then became the head of this Empire as the first Emperor of Rome. He was a wise and able ruler, rather one of the best rulers that Rome ever had. He guided the affairs of the Roman State very effectively and ordered the construction of roads, aqueducts, and buildings.

Nero

Nero known as the Madman of Rome was the most notorious Roman of all times. His mother murdered his step-father, Emperor Claudius due to which he came to power. It was likely that he was insane and lunatic. The Great Fire of Rome happened during his reign, he sang through as he saw Rome burn. Later there were rumors that he himself had created and initiated the fire. After the fire, he built a sumptuous palace on the land cleared by fire.

Trajan was known as the kind-hearted soldier. He was one of the most outstanding emperors of Rome. During his rule, the ancient Roman Empire reached its largest extent. He captured the rich kingdom of Dacia, north of the Danube.

He had commendable warrior-like skills. He was also known for his wisdom and dignity. He was humble while dealing with the Senate. His reign saw many developments, during which many public works, roads, and harbors were built. He also set up an imperial fund which looked after the poor, especially children.
